Tech Unleashed: 2024 State of IT Insights on Dec 19, 2023įor the last few years, Peter has been doing a State of IT panel at SpiceWorld, and I usually take a ton of pictures of the slides with even more notes that I want to do topics and articles on.The question is, what's the issue when using the local IP address. but AGH didn't show anything on the query logs. I tried to use the VM public ip address on the router, and the issue didn't happen. The weird thing is: on the main router if I have put an external IP as DNS:Įverything works fine, so the issue must be in the VM or something that hosts AGH, as i said pi hole did the same issue too. I tried all the possible solutions I can find, checked AdGuardHome logs, router logs, firewall, ports.etc, nothing seems off. When I move back to the other, so mobile device connects to the main router, here the connection drops (mobile device shows connected without internet). Main router Wi FI (acts as DHCP) -> connected to mobile device via 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, move to the other end of the home, mobile device connects to router that acts as AP (router got static IP, disabled DHCP, got the same SSID and password). So it seems that the issue isn't specific to AGH. I tried another VM and ran Pi Hole on it, and the same issue happens, I did a fresh install of AGH and same issue. The device is a samsung phone which has randomized MAC, will that be the issue?Īs for ADH point of view it's a different device (since different MAC) but the SSID is the same, so it causes an IP conflict? The router that acts as an AP got DHCP disabled and got static ip set.etc, and everything used to work fine before AGH. when the same device connect to the first AP, it gets the static IP correctly. I have changed the SSID name of that AP to a different one, and the wi fi devices gets different IP from it.Įven though the device got a static IP set in Adguard home. Most likely the wi fi devices gets a different IP when it connects to that AP. ![]() It seems the issue with the other router that I have which acts as an access point. ![]() So, is it something in the config/settings? I tried to redo everything from scratch and made another VM, installed adguard again but same issue. But since i moved dhcp to adguard, i need to find a solution and the root cause for that. I am not sure what cause this issue, previously I had my modem to handle dhcp and the same issue happens if I only have the adguard home as the primary dns server, if I add a secondary dns server such as google.etc, wi fi device doesn't lose connection. I have adguard home running on a Ubuntu VM and acting as DHCP server too.Įverything is working great on ethernet connections, however on Wi Fi devices, it randomly lose the connection (on phone shows: connected without internet), when I try to ping the adguard home ip address from the affected wi fi device, it doesn't respond, but the server is functioning and responds fine on ethernet and other wi fi devices (the issue doesn't happen to all wi fi devices at once - it's random, it can happen on my phone but my wi fi connected laptop works fine and vice versa).however after sometime, the affected device gain connection and works fine. I would appreciate some help/guidance regarding this issue.
